FESTA CityUps Project Test Run #2 // Sat 18/10/14

The orbs were painted with a mixture of varnish and glow-in-the-dark powder yesterday, so we thought it was a good time to do another test run. C, J, T and I made our way to the common room last night as the rain made it impossible to create our work outside.

While it was comfortable being inside with the bad weather, it didn’t have that magical feeling that the other test run had. We found some problems with how long the glow-in-the-dark lasted, but we can make them glow simply with the torch from my phone. I had a bit of fun creating patterns that way. We’re hoping another layer will make them look less patchy.

There was also some issues with the orbs not being bright enough with the amount of lighting there could be at the festival. However it’s hard to find that balance between dark enough for the time capsules to glow, and light enough for people to be able to read and write.

We only have a week until FESTA - that seems so crazy!

FESTA CityUps Project Test Run // Wed 15/10/14

Carrying blankets and pillows C, J and I made our way to the library to do a test run for our CityUps project at 8.30PM.

We’re creating a comfortable seating area for people to relax in and write notes to the future and deposit them in ceramic time capsules that we have made. Our fingers are crossed for the possibility that our Chubb Chubbs glow in the dark.

T joined us and gave us some really good feedback. It was a good time to do this as we can still work through some problems that we have with our work.

We stayed there for at least an hour, and it was just a really nice space to be in.

The Great Mugging, Craft Kitchen // Fri 17/10/14

Auckland Studio Potters gave away mugs today across a number of different cafes in Ponsonby.

C, J and I got up early and went to Craft Kitchen (which is such a nice cafe). We each bought a coffee (C got a hot chocolate) and in exchange we each got to choose a mug to take home for free.

I picked one made by Frank Checketts - it’s an amazing dark teal colour with drips in the inside. I’ve been obsessed with ceramics for awhile now, and I was so amazed with all the different designs and glazes. Thanks ASP!

Earlier this year, Baltimore Ravens football player Ray Rice beat his then-fiance Janay Palmer in an elevator, knocking her out. He was suspended for two games.

This morning, TMZ released a video of the incident.

Someone took a candid photo of a fight in Ukranian Parliament that is as well-composed as the best renaissance art.

I can’t stop looking at it…? Such a nice composition…

OK, I haven’t had the motivation to make anything lately, and I don’t have work for a couple of weeks, so I’m doing a GIVEAWAY!!!! for a free commission of a monster doll. Anything you want, as long as any extra supplies I need don’t cost me more than $15. I already have a lot of fabric, so it’s probably cool! If you don’t have any preferences, I can design something on my own.

The only thing is that international shipping for these can get really expensive depending on the country… so if you don’t live in the US I’m really sorry, but I can’t pay to ship it.

Stuff:

  • If you’re under 18 make sure to have a guardian’s permission etc
  • Just one reblog and one like, please.
  • IDC where you reblog it
  • Giveaway will end on Sept 7, 2014
  • If you want to commission me after, the cost will be $100 plus materials plus shipping.
  • Check my patterns out!

Oooooh! SO CUTE! ;3;
